Osmanthus x burkwoodii features shiny, dark green foliage that contrasts perfectly with the clusters of small, highly scented white flowers that appear each spring. This slow-growing, evergreen shrub has a neat, rounded habit, making it an ideal choice for small gardens.

Osmanthus plants are extremely versatile, establishing themselves well on tricky garden slopes and dry banks, as well as growing in sun or shade. They can also be trained as a screen or hedge with little maintenance. The display of flowers every spring is a welcome sight, not just visually but also for the powerful fragrance. Osmanthus plants are best grown in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Plants will tolerate a wide range of soils, from sand to chalk and clay.
Prune Osmanthus immediately after flowering. Lightly cut back flowered shoots, and remove any dead, diseased or damaged growth.
