Parthenocissus quinquefolia is a vigorous deciduous climber with palmate leaves consisting of five leaflets. Valued for it's ability to quickly smother walls and fences with dense foliage, the Virginia Creeper is renowned for its intensely vibrant autumn colour. As the weather cools in autumn, every leaf glows rich crimson and orange. These are sometimes accompanied by clusters of blue-black berries. Thriving in sun or full shade, this versatile climbing plant is easy to grow in any soil, although is best given some space! Height: up to 12m (39'). Spread: 4m (13').

An easy to care for plant, just prune Parthenocissus plants as and when required throughout the season, remove longer shoots to keep plants in control. To maintain a desired shape, tie the shoots onto their supporting wires or frames regularly . Caution: harmful if eaten.
