Swap the bean poles for telephone pea poles! This fabulous heirloom pea is a maincrop climbing pea which will reach 6 foot, using vertical space to give you a much bigger crop within a smaller area of ground. Around since the 1880s, these climbing peas fell out of fashion simply because they are too tricky to harvest commercially. However, this 'Telephone' Pea is perfect for the home grower. Harvest-ready in about 70 days, it produces masses of large pods, each containing 8-10 sweet and tender peas, over a long cropping period. Climb up a trellis or wigwam. (Wrinkled type). Maximum height: 180cm (6 foot). Spread: 25cm (10").

1 Packet (200 Seeds) (KC9415)

Support pea plants with twiggy sticks, wire or netting as they grow, and use fine netting to protect pea crops from birds and pea moth damage. When growing peas, regular and thorough watering especially when in flower will improve crop yields. Harvest peas around 14 weeks after sowing when the pods have swollen. Regular picking will encourage further cropping.
