Description How to Grow Delivery

Pellaea rotundifolia is a dainty, evergreen fern with an unusual foliage pattern and an elegant, cascading habit. Fronds up to 25cm long with fine, pink-flushed stems carry pairs of glossy, dark green, leathery leaflets. The ribbons of button-like foliage form low, cascading rosettes. A tender fern, it can be grown outside in a summer container, or all year round as a house or conservatory plant. Pellaea rotundifolia looks beautiful cascading over the sides of a trough, creeping through a terrarium or bottle garden, or tumbling from a kitchen windowsill. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height and spread: 40cm (16in).

Plant in partial shade in fertile, acid, well-drained soil. Feed and water regularly until fully established. Protect from hot midday sun. This fern is tender and must be protected from frost so it is best planted into a container and moved into a frost-free position over winter. It also makes an excellent houseplant and particularly suits terrariums.
