Beautiful deep cerise blooms are carried on tall stems above semi evergreen foliage. Blooming all summer long and well into autumn, Penstemon 'Tubular Bells Wine Red' perseveres through rain or drought, and is slug resistant too. A classic cottage garden plant for well drained borders and patio containers. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Pot up plug plants into 9cm pots and grow them on in frost free conditions. When plugs are fully rooted into their pots, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days and transplant into borders and patio containers. Penstemon plants dislike cold, wet soils in winter. Plant them in a well drained site, adding compost or well rotted manure to amend heavy clay soils. Choose a position in full sun or semi shade.

Feed and water plants regularly until they are fully established. Cut back faded flower stems to encourage more blooms to be produced. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure around the crown of each plant in autumn or spring. Avoid pruning back old foliage until spring arrives, as this will help to protect the plant during winter.

Seeds and garden supplies will normally be delivered within the time period stated against each product as detailed above.
