From May to July, Philadelphus ‘Mont Blanc’ fills the garden with the delicious perfume of its abundant single, white flowers that stand out against a backdrop of dark green foliage. An old established variety, forming a small to medium deciduous shrub with an upright habit that is perfect for borders or even large containers. Easy, fast-growing and unfussy about soil type, Philadelphus is a rewarding and reliable shrub for sun to partial shade. It is also adored by pollinators. Height and spread: 1.2m (4ft).

Grow Philadelphus plants in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Mock Orange plants at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.

Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Philadelphus requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
