A much-loved, easy to grow annual with a gentle fragrance that attracts hoverflies, who then feed on troublesome aphids. Bees also love this low spreading carpet of yellow and white blooms. A customer favourite, perfect for the front of borders, rockeries and as path edging.

Where to sow: Outdoors where they are to flower.
Preparation: Prepare the ground by raking until it is fine and crumbly, removing any large stones.
Sowing: Sow 3mm (1/8in) deep, in rows 30cm (12in) apart.
Growing:When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 15cm (6in) apart. Plants prefer a position in full sun with a cool, moist root run making them ideal as an edging for paths.
