This stunning new deep violet poppy will bring rich colour and a touch of sophistication to your planting schemes all summer long, especially when used as a contrast against pure whites or yellows. Poppy ‘Hungarian Blue’ is a hardy annual that is also very easy to grow, plant it outside in drifts where it will cover a large area with its beautiful blooms! Height: 90cm (39"), Spread: 30cm (12")

Sow March to April or August to September for overwintering. Optimum Germination Temperature: 60-65F (15-18C). Sowing Depth: 1/16 Inch (1.5mm). Seed should be sown outdoors where it is to flower in spring or autumn and thinned out to 12in (30cm) apart.

Space the plants 30cm (12in) apart in full sun in ordinary garden soil.

Caution: harmful if eaten.

Culinary note: All poppies are poisonous. However, the seeds produced by somniferum and paeoniflorum poppies only can be eaten. Typically, they are used in bakery recipes. For more details about edible flowers click here.
