Autumn Fruiting

Raspberry ‘Imara’ is an early variety that starts fruiting at the end of July and normally produces half its yield by mid-September. Highly productive with an average yield of 1.8kg per plant. Branching canes with unobstructive spines hold large, uniform and well-coloured fruit that is easy to pick. The berries have a firm texture and an outstanding shelf life. Height: 150cm (59"). Spread: 50cm (20").

All of our Raspberries have been inspected by the Ministry of Agriculture for pests and diseases and certified. The bare root plants are hand graded and carefully selected before packing.

Estimated time to cropping once planted: 4-8 months.
Estimated time to best yields: 16-20 months.

Grow autumn fruiting raspberry plants in a sunny position in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the planting hole. Plant raspberry canes in rows allowing a distance of 60cm (24") between plants. Firm in and water well. Canes should be pruned to 30cm (12") immediately following planting to encourage more shoots to be produced. Autumn fruiting varieties do not require supports for their stems. They can also be grown in large containers of soil based compost such as John Innes no.3.
Water well for the first year until plants are fully established. When berries begin to develop, place a net over the plants to protect the crop from birds. Prune raspberry canes to ground level each February and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the canes. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer. Culinary note: Suitable for freezing.

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
