Rhodotypos scandens is an unusual and rarely-seen shrub, native to China. Its appealing single, white flowers are born on the tips of each arching shoot and are followed by large berries up to 8mm across. All this is set against a backdrop of sharply-toothed, deeply-furrowed foliage. Rhodotypos scandens is ideal for sunny borders or woodland edges, remaining reasonably compact. Height and spread: 150cm (59").

Rhodotypos will grow in any fertile, well drained soil. It can tolerate partial shade but prefers a position in full sun.
Feed and water Rhodotypos regularly until fully established. Prune away any damaged, diseased or misplaced stems in late winter while dormant, to maintain a healthy framework and create pleasing shape.
