Floribunda Rose

Winner of the prestigious ‘Rose of the Year Award 2024’, the smouldering colours of Rose ‘Meteor’ intensify as they are exposed to sunlight, resembling glowing embers. This repeat-flowering Floribunda bears multiple clusters of fully double medium to large flowers which open to gold and gradually take on flushes of red. The blooms carry a light sweet scent. ‘Meteor’ forms an erect, compact bush clothed in dark green, disease-resistant foliage. Reaching a height of just 70cm, it is ideal for patio pots and border planting. Height and spread: 70cm (27in).

1 Bare Root Plant (KF5773)
2 Bare Root Plants (KF5774)

These plants are lifted from the nursery field when dormant, and sent to you in late autumn or spring for planting. They often look dead on arrival, but they are just resting in the dormant period and will establish quickly for a strong start in the garden come spring. Set out in prepared soil in holes wide enough and deep enough to lay out the roots. Tread down the planting soil to knock out air pockets. Water well to settle. Apply a mulch to protect roots from cold temperatures. If conditions prevent immediate planting, set roughly into loose soil or a pot of compost (‘heeling in’) to protect the roots. Set these at the same level as they were in the nursery field – you should see a soil line at the base of the stem. Stake trees, taller shrubs and roses to prevent root disturbance.
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In winter, begin pruning floribunda roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems to 20cm (10”) above ground level. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
