Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

A semi-double, maroon-red Rudbeckia with a chocolate cone. Rudbeckia 'Enchanted Velvet Flame' is an easy red to place in the garden, re-invigorating mid-summer borders with rich colour just when they are beginning to flag and continuing to flower for months.

Rudbeckias are one of the most useful of garden annuals, combining distinctive looks, robustness and a very long flowering period. The semi-double flowers are up to 10cm (4") in diameter and held on sturdy, weather-proof stems above neat mounds of foliage that do not overcrowd neighbouring plants. Flowering non-stop from July to October, the nectar-rich blooms are loved by bees and butterflies, making them great for wildlife-friendly gardens. Rudbeckia ‘Enchanted Velvet Flame' is a lovely choice for planting in bold groups throughout beds and borders, or filling patio pots. The eye-catching blooms also make a useful cut flower for a vase indoors. A short-lived perennial, best treated as an annual. Height: 50cm (20”). Spread: 45cm (18”).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Pot up rudbeckia plants and grow them on in frost free conditions for transplanting outdoors later on. When plants are well-grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days, before planting them outdoors in sun or partial shade. Rudbeckia enjoys a fertile, preferably heavy soil that is rich in organic matter and well drained. Coneflowers resent drought and dislike soils that dry out in summer.
Feed and water rudbeckia plants regularly. Deadhead faded rudbeckia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced.

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
