Growing well in conditions that other plants would struggle in, Sea Buckthorn is a perfect hedging plant for coastal areas as it prefers dry, sandy soils. Its small, silvery leaves cover prickly/thorny stems making it great for security hedging and the yellow flowers which appear in late spring turn into bright orange berries that are packed with vitamin C! Supplied as 60 - 90cm bareroots (24 - 31") Height: 8m (26'). Spread: 8m (26'). Planting Distance: 30cm (12"). (4 plants per metre for a single line hedge).

Water regularly until fully established. Blackthorn require little aftercare. Simply remove any diseased, damaged or crossing shoots to maintain a healthy framework. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plants in spring, taking care not to mound mulch up against the stems.
Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant your hedging at the same soil level as they were growing at the nursery, and water well to settle the soil.
