Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
This vigorous climber makes an elegant addition to a bright, warm room. Stephanotis floribunda is grown for its waxy, heavenly scented, tubular white flowers that fill the air with a rich perfume which is reminiscent of Jasmine. The blooms emerge in summer, decorating the woody, twining stems. Even when not in flower, the foliage makes this a handsome climber. A cloak of evergreen, dark green, leathery leaves with prominently veined undersides cover the stems all year round. Although not the easiest house plant to grow, Stephanotis will certainly add a touch of glamour to your home. A mature plant grown in a warm conservatory can be a real show stopper! Height: 3m (10'). Spread: 1.5m (5').

Stephanotis needs careful placement if it is to thrive. Bright light, away from the direct glare of the sun is essential. Position it in a warm room with a temperature above 18C (65F) during spring and summer. Winter temperatures can be lower, but should not fall below 7C (45F).
Water freely between spring and autumn using tepid rainwater where possible, and allowing the pot to drain well after each watering. In winter, reduce watering allowing the compost to dry out slightly between waterings. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth. Stephanotis appreciates a humid atmosphere - stand it on a tray filled with pebbles and water. As the water evaporates it will increase humidity around the plant. Alternatively, it can be misted with a fine spray.
