Pepper ‘Thor’ produces a profusion of long, slender peppers with a delicious sweet flavour. The glossy fruits ripen from green to scarlet, measuring up to 25cm (10") long. These delicious peppers can be enjoyed fresh picked in salads or sliced for grilling and barbecuing. Grow them in the greenhouse for early ripening, or in a sheltered, sunny spot outdoors for crops later in the season. Height: 150cm (59"). Spread: 60cm (24").

Grafted sweet pepper plants offer increased vigour, yields and resistance to soil borne pest and diseases in every situation but they are particularly useful if you are growing peppers in your greenhouse in the same ground. Our grafted peppers may come with a grafting clip. Leave this in place and allow it to drop off naturally as the plant grows.

Peppers may be grown undercover in a greenhouse or polytunnel, or grown outdoors in a sheltered position in full sun. Pot up young plants and grow them on in warm frost free conditions. When plants are well grown transplant them into grow bags and containers, or plant them in well prepared beds of fertile, well drained soil. When growing sweet peppers outdoors, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days prior to transplanting them. Space pepper plants at a distance of 50cm (20") apart.

Water sweet pepper plants regularly throughout the growing season and feed weekly with a high potash tomato fertiliser once the first fruits have set. Taller varieties of sweet peppers may require staking. Provide a thick mulch of organic matter around the base of the plants to help conserve moisture and reduce weed growth. In greenhouses, maintain high humidity by damping down paths daily. Harvest peppers singly by cutting them from the plant with secateurs. Peppers grown outdoors must be harvested before the first frosts.
