Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
Taxus x media 'Hicksii' is a female Yew variety with an upright, columnar habit, bright red berries and dark-green foliage. A compact cultivar, it is faster growing than the commonly seen English Yew, and makes an excellent, evergreen hedge. However, ‘Hicksii’ is equally spectacular when allowed to grow unpruned, and forms a majestic, upright conifer with dense foliage. Yews are particularly adaptable, and will thrive in almost any position - from full sun to deep shade, on acid or chalky soils - and can be kept to a manageable size through regular pruning. Height: 8m (25’). Spread: 3m (10’).

Yew trees thrive in any well drained, fertile soil, equally enjoying acid or alkaline conditions. Taxus is versatile, growing in any position from full sun to deep shade.
Feed and water regularly until yew trees are fully established. Left unpruned, Yew will develop into a handsome tree. Alternatively prune in summer and early autumn to create a dense, evergreen hedge.
