Flowering from mid spring until early autumn, this is one of the longest flowering Veronicas. Flowering in its first year, Veronica ‘Purplegum Candles’ produces bright purple spires on compact, bushy plants which are ideal for smaller gardens. It’s perfect for the front of the border, where it creates a useful vertical accent amongst mound-forming perennials. The flower spikes are held on strong stems above matts of lance-shaped leaves and are highly attractive to pollinating insects. Free-flowering and low maintenance, this is an extremely well-behaved hardy perennial which suits both borders and containers. Height: 35cm (14”). Spread: 30cm (12”).

Pot up Veronica plants and grow them on in warm, frost-free conditions until plants are well grown. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before planting out in their final positions. Choose a sunny or semi-shaded position in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Veronica prefers a fertile, humus rich soil so work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting.

Deadhead faded veronica flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. In autumn, cut back old foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plant.

Plants, bulbs, corms, tubers, shrubs, trees, potatoes, etc. are delivered at the appropriate time for planting or potting on.
