A deciduous shrub, forming clusters of bell-shaped, deep red flowers that open from plum-coloured buds in late spring, right the way through to early summer. The dark green leaves provide a wonderful backdrop to the flowers. Weigela 'Bristol Ruby' is fast-growing, upright and easy-to-grow, ideal for small gardens and mixed shrub borders. Grow Weigela in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Weigela at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.

Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Weigela requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
