A stunning new Weigela set to launch at Chelsea Plant of Year 2023, ‘Camouflage’ is the first to pair deep red flowers with variegated green/purple foliage. Generous clusters of trumpet-like, ruby-red flowers are set against foliage splashed bright green with purple-bronze margins. The whole effect is vibrant but harmonious, the flowers toning beautifully with the purple tints, whilst the lime splashes create contrasting highlights. Compact and densely branching, Weigela ‘Camouflage’ is a reliable and rewarding shrub for mixed borders and containers in sun or partial shade, providing a long season of foliage interest as well as colourful flowers. Height and spread: 60cm (24in).

Grow Weigela in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Weigela at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.

Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Weigela requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
