The first of its kind! Weigela ‘Electric Love’ boasts electric red flowers against a backdrop of deep purple foliage for a rich contrast. The first true-red, dark-leaved Weigela available, Weigela ‘Electric Love’ remains reliably compact, with a low, mounding habit that suits both containers and borders. It bears a profusion of bell-shaped flowers from late spring to early summer that are loved by pollinators. The dramatic foliage provides a colourful contrast throughout the season. Height: 30-60cm (1-2ft). Spread: 60-90cm (2-3ft).

Grow Weigela in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Weigela at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.

Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Weigela requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
