Weigela ‘Picobella Rosso’ is a dwarf variety, great for small borders and containers. Despite its petite size, it is a flowering powerhouse, pumping out blooms for months. Reaching a maximum of around a couple of feet, this compact Weigela requires little if any pruning. In return, it rewards with masses of bright red, trumpet-like flowers for up to six months, starting in from May and continuing to the very first frosts. The bright green foliage is small and delicate, and held on bushy, dense mounds. Height: 70cm (28in). Spread: 100cm (39in).

Grow Weigela in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Weigela at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.

Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Weigela requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
