Wiegela are well-known deciduous shrubs, valued for their reliable performance and fuss-free growing requirements. This unusual duo have been bred for an upright, columnar habit that creates pillars of colour in early summer, with a second flush in late summer. The oval foliage emerges bronze, gradually darkening to deep green. These slender shrubs are perfect for planting on patio pots and small garden borders where they make the most of the space available. Height: 120cm (48"). Spread: 90cm (36").

Grow Weigela in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Weigela at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.

Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Weigela requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
