An architectural display of inky black flowers perch upon stiff, upright stems in early summer. The pointed buds droop demurely downwards as the flowers open, gradually colouring to a deep indigo-purple. Agapanthus ‘Black Magic’ is a clump-forming perennial with narrow, strap-like foliage. Perfect for bringing drama and intrigue to your planting schemes. This splendid African Lily associates beautifully with paler varieties to create an enchanting contrast. It makes a magnificent cut flower! Height: 80cm (32"). Spread: 50cm (20").

Flowering Months
Feed and water African Lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded Agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect plants outdoors from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Divide agapanthus clumps in spring when they become over crowded.
Grow Agapanthus plants in rich fertile, well drained soil, in a sunny position. When growing Agapanthus in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3 .
