Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
Allium Medusa is named for its slender snaking foliage. Each leaf tip has an intriguing leaf tip. The grey-green foliage forms a rounded clump that when planted in dense groups forms useful ground cover. In early summer globes of lollipop flower-heads appear atop the slender upright stems. The flower buds have a nodding, viper like appearance that will straighten as they open with the purple blooms bringing a vertical accent to planting schemes. These are perfect for summer containers, gravel gardens and for the front of sunny borders. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 10cm (4").

Alliums thrive in light sandy, well drained soil in full sun. Avoid planting in cold wet soils as the bulbs are prone to rot in these conditions. Plant allium bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4”) and a distance of 10cm (4”) apart. A slow release fertilizer can be added to poor soils at the time of planting to improve fertility. When growing alliums, plant them where the leaves of other plants will cover the base of their stems. This will hide the old foliage which dies back before flowering begins.
Alliums require little maintenance. Leave stems of faded allium flowers intact to enjoy their spectacular seed heads in autumn. Divide overcrowded clumps of alliums after flowering. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.
