Unlike most Asters, this dwarf, alpine Aster is an early flowerer, producing masses of deep pink daisies in late spring and early summer. It loves dry, sun-baked positions at the front of the border or in rockeries where it forms neat mounds. Aster alpinus ‘Happy End’ associates beautifully with other low-growing coastal and Mediterranean plants and is well suited to container growing. Height: 25cm (10in). Spread: 30cm (12in).

Plant Aster alpinus in a well-drained soil in full sun. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering and cut back after flowering to retain compact shape.
