Covered in white flowers in late spring, then turning to the black rounded berries in autumn. The foliage is dense and the branches are thorny, making it an excellent protection or deterrent hedge too. Supplied as 60 - 90cm bareroots (24 - 35") Height: 4m (13'). Spread: 4m (13'). Plant Blackthorn in any moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Incorporate plenty of compost or well-rotted manure prior to planting. Ideally grown in full sun.Water regularly until fully established. Blackthorn require little aftercare. Simply remove any diseased, damaged or crossing shoots to maintain a healthy framework. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plants in spring, taking care not to mound mulch up against the stems.Seeds and garden supplies will normally be delivered within the time period stated against each product as detailed above. Plants, bulbs, corms, tubers, shrubs, trees, potatoes, etc. are delivered at the appropriate time for planting or potting on. Delivery times will be stated on the product page above, or in your order acknowledgement page and email.
