Description How to Grow Delivery Reviews
An easy-to-grow annual for bedding and borders. Large frilly blooms in a mix of colours, from deep orange to cream, are long flowering and great for cutting. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Culinary information: Some parts of these flowers are edible. The light peppery taste of the flowers can be added to breads for extra flavour with a touch of colour. Calendula petals can also be used as a substitute for saffron when colouring rice dishes. For more details about edible flowers click here.

  • Sow outdoors March/May where they are to flower. Prepare the ground by raking to a fine tilth before sowing.
  • Sow 12mm (1/2in) deep, in rows 30cm (12in) apart.
  • When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 23-30cm (9-12in) apart.
    For spring/summer flowering pot plants
  • Sow in a cool greenhouse or conservatory in late summer/early autumn.
  • Overwinter in full light and water sparingly. Transfer to containers and bring outdoors May/June.
  • The petals are edible, and can be used as a substitute for saffron.
