Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
Campanulas have retained their popularity with gardeners for many years, and yet this elegant Korean Bellflower is surprisingly underused. Campanula takesimana produces arched stems of glossy, toothed foliage which are topped with large pendant, bell-shaped flowers. The pink flushed blooms are well worth a closer look, as the inside of each flower is decorated deep maroon freckles. This hardy perennial has a rapid growth habit that will quickly form large clumps in borders. It prefers a lightly shaded spot making it useful for under-planting trees and shrubs, or filling the darker borders in the garden. Height: 50cm (20"). Spread: 100cm (39").

Culinary note: The flowers can be used as garnishes but are also dried and then cooked in Asian cuisine. For more details about edible flowers click here.

1 x 1 litre potted campanula plant (T63958)

Grow Campanula takesimana in any moist, fertile, well drained, non-acidic soil. Campanula will thrive in sun or semi shade, but the dainty bell-flowers will last longer in a slightly shaded position.
Water regularly until Campanula plants are fully established. On exposed sites, support the tall flower stems with garden canes. After flowering, cut back the plants to remove faded Campanula flowers and promote a second flush of blooms. Campanula takesimana will quickly spread. Divide overcrowded clumps in spring or autumn to reduce their spread and maintain vigour.
