Flowering Months
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season until Coneflower plants are fully established. Deadhead faded Echinacea flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. In autumn, remove old foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plant.
Pot up plugs in 9cm pots and grow them on in cool conditions until large enough to transplant into their final positions. Gradually acclimatise Echinacea plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days prior to planting out. Grow Echinacea plants in a sunny or semi shaded situation. Choose a position in moist, well drained soil. Echinacea plants prefer a deep, fertile soil so work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting. Garden Ready plug plants can be planted straight out in the garden provided that there are no forecasts of frost.
