Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
Nothing says spring is on its way like a forsythia. The branches of neat-growing Forsythia x intermedia ‘Goldrausch' will be wreathed in bright yellow flowers that light up the garden. Team this easy-to-grow plant with other spring-flowering shrubs and early crocuses (Crocus) or daffodils (Narcissus) in beds and borders. Reliable and hardy, it's equally good as an informal hedge or wall shrub. Height 2.5m (8'). Spread 2.5m (8').

Culinary information: The blossoms are edible raw, though they can be slightly bitter. The will add colour to salads and are a cheery garnish. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Flowering Months
Feed and water Forsythia plants regularly until fully established. Prune Forsythia plants in late spring after flowering. Cut back all flowered shoots to a healthy pair of leaves. On established Forsythia plants, cut back up to a fifth of the oldest shoots to their base, to encourage healthy new growth and improve flowering. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or other organic matter around the base of the plant after pruning.
Grow Forsythia plants in moist, well drained soil in full sun or semi-shade.
