Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
Sometimes a bright, colourful border of 'look at me' plants need a calming shade to turn the volume down a little and Foxglove purpurea ‘Apricot’ is perfect for this task. The tall spikes of elegant blooms contrast with the coarse green foliage and will attract pollinating insects to your garden and as it thrives in dappled shade it will be perfect for spaces in the garden where sun loving plants would sulk. Although as a species Digitalis are short lived they'll seed themselves around the garden to increase the display year after year. Height: 120cm (48"). Spread: 60cm (24").

Caution: Irritant to skin and eyes. Toxic if eaten. Plant Foxgloves out in sun or dappled shade on any fertile, well drained soil. Digitalis will grow well in most soils except for waterlogged or particularly dry conditions. Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting. Water well to settle the soil.
Water foxglove plants regularly until fully established. Foxgloves self-seed freely. If seedlings are not wanted, deadhead stems of foxglove flowers as the blooms fade. In autumn, cut back old stems to encourage plenty of new side shoots.
