This is a Foxglove with a difference! Make your garden unique by adding the unusual Foxglove lanata to a shady but well-drained area of your garden. It is a holder of the Royal Horticultural Society's prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM) and is also known as the Grecian or Woolly Foxglove. This hardy perennial's foliage is covered in fine spikes which are red or purple on its stems and white on its leaves. In June, July and August the plant also produces vertical spikes bearing unusual, fawn-coloured flowers patterned with dark veins. The intricacy of these blooms can only truly be appreciated from close up and along with its compact nature this makes the Digitalis Ianata worthy of a prominent space near the front of a flowerbed. Height: 60cm (2'0"); Spread: 30cm (1'0").

Caution: Irritant to skin and eyes. Toxic if eaten. Plant Foxgloves out in sun or dappled shade on any fertile, well drained soil. Digitalis will grow well in most soils except for waterlogged or particularly dry conditions. Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting. Water well to settle the soil.
Water foxglove plants regularly until fully established. Foxgloves self-seed freely. If seedlings are not wanted, deadhead stems of foxglove flowers as the blooms fade. In autumn, cut back old stems to encourage plenty of new side shoots.
