In years gone by, gerberas were some of the first plants to come into the greenhouse as winter approached. New breeding has changed all that - Gerbera ‘Sweet love’ will happily survive the winter outdoors! Planted in a sheltered position, this cheery barberton daisy will produce a non-stop supply of daisy blooms, carried on upright stems throughout the summer.

Flowering Months
Feed and water gerbera regularly throughout the growing season. In milder parts of the UK, these Gerbera are hardy outdoors, if grown in a sheltered position and provided with winter protection during particularly cold periods. In particularly cold areas it is preferable to grow gerbera plants in containers that can be moved to a frost free position during winter.
Pot up gerbera plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When they are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before transplanting into their final positions. Plant gerberas outdoors in fertile, well drained soil in sheltered, sunny borders. When growing gerbera in patio containers, use a loam based compost such as John Innes No.2.
