Geums are a plant you don't often see in garden centres, which is a shame as they're tough, hardy and easy to grow! This gorgeous variety produces delicate, double apricot-orange blooms which emerge from contrasting burgundy buds over an incredibly long period. From early summer right through until autumn, the delightfully ruffled blooms of Geum 'Mai Tai' are borne on slender, burgundy stems which are ideal for cutting. Grow Geum at the front of perennial borders for a prolific, airy display every year. Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 40cm (16"). Bare root plant supplied.

1 x 3 Litre Potted Plant (KA4385)

Plant Geum bare roots at the earliest opportunity following delivery. Should soil conditions prevent planting directly into borders (if soil is frozen or waterlogged), bare roots should be potted up, watered sparingly and grown on in a cool position. Choose a sunny or shaded position on any well drained soil. Work some compost or general fertiliser into the top 20cm of the soil. Dig a hole wide enough to accommodate the bare root with its roots spread out and deep enough that the crown of the plant is just a few cm below soil level. Backfill the hole with soil and firm the plant in gently. Water well to settle the soil.
Water regularly until fully established. Dead-head faded geum flowers regularly to encourage more blooms to be produced. Remove old foliage in autumn. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant in spring. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of Geum to maintain their vigour.
