Geum 'Samba Sunset' comes from the latest breeding programmes for larger blooms and a free-flowering display. The results are spectacular! Enormous, double flowers, twice the size of traditional varieties, are borne throughout the summer. The bright scarlet blooms rise on slender stems above a mound of fresh, green foliage. Geum ‘Samba Sunset’ brings this cottage garden favourite bang up to date, delivering a bold splash of summer colour to perennial borders and patio pots. Height: 60cm (24”). Spread: 45cm (18”).

Pot up geum plants and grow them on in bright, frost-free conditions until large enough to be transplanted outdoors. When all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Geums dislike soils which are prone to waterlogging in winter. Plant them in moist, fertile, well drained soil, adding plenty of compost or well rotted manure to amend heavy clay or sandy soils. Choose a position towards the front of the border in full sun.

Water regularly until plants are fully established. Regular deadheading will encourage more flowers to be produced throughout the summer. In spring, lift and divide overcrowded clumps of geum to maintain their vigour.
