The Gladiolus ‘Brown Sugar’ adds some exotic colour and vibrancy to any space, whether in borders in the garden or cut and added into flower arrangements. You can help elongate their flowering season by planting in bundles 14 days apart, meaning you enjoy for much longer through the summer months. These flowers are even edible and make for great editions in salads. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 15cm (6").

March and April are the best time for planting Gladiolus corms. Plant them at a depth of 10cm (4”). Choose a sunny, sheltered position in well drained soil. Add well rotted manure or compost to improve drainage on heavy clay soils. Try planting gladioli in groups of five or seven for greater effect. Stagger planting over a few weeks for a succession of flowers throughout summer. Taller varieties may require staking with garden canes to support their tall stems.

Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. After flowering, allow the foliage to die back naturally as this will help to feed the corms for next years growth. Corms should be lifted, cleaned and dried off during autumn, removing any remaining foliage. During winter store corms in a cool, dry place away from risk of damp or frost. Replant in spring for another wonderful display.
