Gladiolus ‘Midnight Mix’ has a gorgeous mix of lavender, violet and white flowers which make a stunning display and a must have for some gorgeous late summer colours in the garden. They are sturdy, large blooms which are perfect for a sunny spot or border. They are also wonderful for a cut flower display. Height: 90cm (36"). Spread: 15cm (6"). Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. Try the sweet tasting petals on top of salads or even pancakes, crystallise them for use as cake decorations too. Plant gladioli in groups at 14-day intervals to extend their flowering season, and enjoy their fabulous blooms all summer long. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 15cm (6").

In autumn, allow the foliage to die back naturally before lifting the corms and cleaning them of soil and any remaining stems. Dry them in a well ventilated position for 2 weeks before storing them in a frost-free location for the winter. When growing gladioli in mild areas with particularly well drained soil, it may not be necessary to lift the corms. Apply a dry mulch of bark chips or leaf mould in autumn to protect the corms from cold, wet weather.
