For small gardens and tight spaces, you can’t beat these Flower Tower hibiscus. Their columnar habit can eventually reach up to 3 metres but their height is easily controlled by pruning. Their modest width is perfect for narrow borders, containers, balconies and courtyard corners where the sky’s the limit. Growing up and up into densely branching towers packed with blooms from late summer to autumn, they provide a spectacular focal point which can be used to frame architectural features. Flowering from late July to early October they are drought tolerant once established and attract a wealth of insect pollinators. Height: 300cm (118in). Spread: 75cm (30in)

Hibiscus ‘Flower Tower Collection’ contains the following three varieties:

  • Hibiscus ‘Flower Tower Purple’ - Lilac blooms with a red centre and bold veining
  • Hibiscus ‘Flower Tower Ruby’ - Dark pink-red, semi-double flowers with red hearts,
  • Hibiscus ‘Flower Tower White’ - Pure white semi-double flowers

Grow Hibiscus on rich fertile, reliably moist, well drained soil, in full sun. When growing hibiscus plants in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3.
Feed and water hibiscus regularly until fully established . Apply a dry mulch such as bark chips to the base if the plant in autumn to protect from winter cold. Prune hibiscus in late spring, removing any stems that have died back or been damaged over winter. Hibiscus are often one of the last shrubs in the garden to break bud, so be patient with plants that are slow to start into growth in spring – they may remain dormant until May!
