Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Reviews
This distinctive Lacecap Hydrangea is a robust, hardy shrub which will flower right through summer, producing pretty blooms up to 30cm (12") across. The showy flowers have violet-blue hearts and soft pink outer florets, and contrast wonderfully with the rich chocolate foliage. These unusual leaves produce a second display in autumn as they fade to deep green followed by amber and golden shades. This large, deciduous shrub has a neat habit and is an ideal border filler, requiring minimal care - even in poorer soils. Height and spread: 3m (10'). Supplied in 9cm pots.

Flowering Months
Water regularly until plants are fully established. Leave the faded hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage. Prune after flowering, reducing the stems to restrict their growth to the available space and to improve the shape of the plant. After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: Contact with hydrangea foliage may irritate the skin and eyes and all parts are harmful if eaten.
Hydrangea aspera prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any rich fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Alternatively plant in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
