Maincrop

Maincrop Pea 'Boogie' produces excellent yields of blunt ended pods, each filled with up to 9 sweet, tender peas. This vigorous variety shows good all round disease resistance, including powdery mildew, making it ideal for later sowings. The semi leafless stems make harvesting easy and plants will become self supporting if grown in a block. Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 25cm (10").

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.

1 Packet (250 Seeds) (24341)

Direct sow peas outdoors from March to June, once the soil as warmed. In mild areas, some hardy, early maturing cultivars may be sown in late autumn for overwintering. Choose a weed-free position on moist, fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Sow pea seed in flat bottomed drills at a distance of 5cm (2") apart, and 4cm (1 1/2") deep. Allow a distance of 75cm (30") between rows. For successional crops, sow peas every 10 days.
Support pea plants with twiggy sticks, wire or netting as they grow, and use fine netting to protect pea crops from birds and pea moth damage. When growing peas, regular and thorough watering especially when in flower will improve crop yields. Harvest peas around 14 weeks after sowing when the pods have swollen. Regular picking will encourage further cropping.
