A small ornamental peach tree that delivers intense colour to both the spring and autumn garden. In March/April, Prunus ‘Taoflora Red’ is smothered in deep red buds that open into double, fragrant, raspberry-red flowers that are unusually large, measuring up to 3.5cm across. In autumn, the green foliage develops fiery red tones. Very disease resistant. Height: 4m (13ft). Spread: 3m (10ft).

Plant cherry trees in any moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Incorporate plenty of compost or well-rotted manure prior to planting. Choose a final position in full sun.

Water Prunus trees regularly until fully established. Ornamental cherries require little aftercare. Simply remove any diseased, damaged or crossing shoots to maintain a healthy framework. When pruning cherries it is preferable to wait until midsummer to avoid the risk of ‘silver leaf’ infection. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant in spring, taking care not to mound mulch up against the stem.
