For sheer luxury few plants can beat the lavish blooms of Ranunculus! These Persian Buttercups are prized by florists for their opulent double flowers which add glamour to spring bouquets. Ranunculus 'White' delivers layer upon layer of dazzling white petals that form shapely flower heads above the finely cut foliage.

These beauties demand a prominent spot in patio pots or at the front of borders where their late spring blooms will shine like jewels. Be generous when you plant them to ensure that you have plenty to spare for cut flowers. These bulbs do require protection from cold, wet winter weather, but with proper care they will reward you with a breath-taking display. Height: 40cm (16"). Spread: 30cm (12").

10 ranunculus claws (kc1335)

Plant ranunculus in free draining soil in a sheltered, sunny position. Alternatively grow ranunculus tubers in containers of loam based compost mixed with plenty of horticultural grit to improve drainage. Plant the claw-like tubers at a depth of 8cm (3”) with their claws pointing downwards.
Feed and water ranunculus plants regularly while they are in active growth. After flowering, allow the foliage to die back completely before removing it in late summer. Reduce watering and allow the soil to dry out in order to provide the tubers with a dry, dormant period. Move containers of half hardy ranunculus to a frost-free position during winter to protect the tubers from cold, wet weather. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.
