This lovely hardy rose has it all! Robust growth, good disease resistance, a neat, easy-to-maintain, rounded habit and a good four months' continuous flowering! When it comes to choosing a rose, Rose 'Charisma' is hard to beat for depth of colour and fragrance. Modern breeding means that this 'charismatic' rose produces lavish deep red blooms that fade to a deep pink, each flower producing a heady perfume from the time the bud bursts open, to when the petals start to fade and fall. If you only have room for one rose plant in your garden, make sure it is 'Charisma', for guaranteed long-lasting garden performance, stunning colour and a wonderful scent. Height and Spread: 80cm (32in). Supplied as bare root plants.

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. Rosehips and petals can be used in making syrups and the petals will add flavour to cold drinks or fruit dishes. For more details about edible flowers, click here.

Plant bareroot roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. If planting is not possible then 'heel them in' by covering the roots with soil until conditions allow them to be planted in their permanent positions. When growing roses, choose a position in fertile well drained soil in full sun.Roses are greedy plants so add a small handful of granular fertiliser and mix some well rotted manure or compost to the soil. Dig a hole of sufficient width and depth to comfortably accommodate the bareroot plant. Position the plant in the hole so that the base of the stems sits just below soil level. Backfill the soil around the roots of the plant, firm in, and water well.
Feed and water roses regularly. Deadhead faded flowers. In autumn apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant. In winter, begin pruning roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems to 20cm (8”) above ground level. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds.
