Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
Think of butterflies in the late summer garden and Sedum has to be one of the main hardy perennials that comes to mind. Sedum 'Matrona' is one of the best, being blessed with succulent foliage with a delightful deep bronze tinge. The soft pink umbel flowers make a great contrast against the foliage in later summer and into autumn, when this handsome species attracts butterflies and other beneficial insects like no other plant! Stonecrop, as it is commonly called, is a long-lasting perennial which makes a good structural plant. The seedheads look good all winter, after which they can be removed ready for fresh spring growth. Sedum 'Matrona' is a drought-tolerant plant which forms a strong clump and it is easy to grow and to propagate. Just give it a sunny position in well-drained and moderately fertile soil and it will reward you for many years to come. Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 30cm (12").

Caution: All parts are harmful if eaten. Plant Sedum in a sunny position in fertile, well drained, non acidic soil.
When growing sedum, water regularly during particularly hot dry periods and until the plants are fully established. Leave faded flowers in place; the dried Stonecrop seed heads make an attractive late summer feature. In autumn, cut back old stems and foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of ice plants.
