Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Reviews
Loved by garden designers, this low maintenance, evergreen grass brings texture and movement to planting schemes. The wispy, arching strands of foliage form neat clumps that sway and billow in the breeze. Stipa tenuissima is surprisingly drought tolerant, making a useful choice for thin, free-draining soils and coastal locations. Once established it will happily seed about to form immensely tactile drifts. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 30cm (12").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Grow Stipa on any fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Avoid sites that sit wet in winter as Mexican Feather grass can be prone to rotting in such conditions.
Cut back the faded foliage of Stipa in early spring to make way for new growth. Alternatively, whilst wearing gardening gloves, simply comb your fingers gently through the clumps of grass in spring, and the dead leaves will pull away from the base of the plant. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps to maintain their vigour. Stipa self seeds freely. If seedlings are not required then remove them as they appear.
