You won’t have seen a Sweet Pea like this before! Sweet Pea 'Three Times As Sweet' is the first cultivated, Modern Grandiflora tricolour variety to be made available to gardeners. Breed from Lathyrus odoratus x Lathyrus belinensis cross and thus Lathyrus x hammettii hybrid. Shades of blue, burgundy and white create a beautiful marbled effect, with each bloom painted slightly differently from its neighbour. This unique variety boasts that distinctive sweet perfume that we expect from Sweet Peas.

Grow this climbing annual in in pots or borders, trained against trellis or scaling an obelisk. Wherever you plant it, you can be sure of a constant display of perfumed, tri-colour blooms in summer, which make great cut flowers. Height: 1.8m (6’). Spread: 30cm (12”).

Supplied as deep-rooted plugs with an average of 5 sweet pea plants per plug. Pinched and ready for planting straight out.

Pot up and grow sweet pea plants on in cool, bright conditions until large enough to transplant outdoors. Pinch out the growing tips of sweet pea plants while they are still small, to encourage bushy growth. When plants are well grown transplant them outdoors into any fertile, well drained garden soil in full sun or semi-shade.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. When growing sweet peas it is essential to cut the flower stems frequently and deadhead faded blooms to prevent seedpods developing. This will encourage more blooms to be produced and extend the flowering period throughout summer.

Caution: Seeds are harmful if eaten.

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
