Thyme ‘Silver Posie’ is a lovely ornamental form of this versatile culinary herb. The tiny, aromatic, grey-green leaves have white margins and form creeping mats of foliage which provide excellent ground cover for rockeries, walls and border edges. In late spring to early summer it is covered in masses of short flower spikes bearing lilac-pink blooms which attract pollinating insects. Thyme Silver Posie’ thrives in pots on a sunny patio, where its evergreen, variegated leaves provide winter interest. Height: 30cm (12in). Spread: 45cm (18in).

Plant thyme outdoors within easy reach of the kitchen. Choose a position in neutral to alkaline, well drained soil, in full sun.

Feed and water herb plants regularly until they are fully established. Once established, thyme is reasonably drought tolerant and requires little attention. After flowering, cut back thyme plants to maintain compact bushy growth.
