Pot up plug plants into 11cm pots and grow them on in bright, frost free conditions. When plugs are fully rooted into their pots, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Grow Verbascum plants in sunny or semi shaded borders in neutral or alkaline, poor well drained soil. Garden Ready plug plants can be planted straight out in the garden provided that there are no forecasts of frost.
Established Verbascum plants require little maintenance. Deadhead faded flower spikes to encourage more Verbascum flowers to be produced. Cut back old stems at the base in autumn and remove any damaged and yellowing foliage. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost around the base of the plant.
