Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Reviews
Broad plates of tiny pink blooms are held on tall wavering stems that are clothed in ferny foliage. This showy Yarrow produces plenty of stems throughout the summer giving it a pleasing bushy appearance. The vibrant flowers attract pollinating insects and also make lovely informal cut flowers. Achillea 'Cerise Queen' is resilient and once established, copes well in drier conditions and even tolerates a coastal site. This low maintenance, hardy perennial is perfect for cottage garden borders and wildlife gardens. Height and spread: 60cm (24"). Supplied as plug tray plants.

Culinary information: The leaves of the yarrow can be used cooked or raw. They have a bitter flavour but are good in mixed salads and best used when young. They may also be used as a preservative or flavouring for beer. The flowers and leaves can be made into an aromatic tea. click here.

Pot up Achillea plants and grow them on in cool, bright, frost free conditions, watering sparingly until they are fully rooted into their pots. When Yarrow plants are well grown, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days prior to transplanting them to their final positions outdoors. Grow Achillea in any moist, well drained soil in full sun or semi shade. Achillea dislikes soils that sit wet over winter.
Stake the stems in late spring for support. Cut back the first flush of Achillea flowers to encourage a second flush in late summer. Thereafter, faded Achillea flower stems can be left intact until winter to add interest to autumn borders. Yarrow plants are relatively short lived perennials that will benefit from regular division every 2 or 3 years to maintain their vigour. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps in spring.
