Brilliant, carmine-red double blooms dance on tall stems above low mounds of bright green foliage. Airy and informal flowers accompanied by tidy foliage makes this dainty perennial perfect for path edges and front-of-border positions. Keep up with the dead-heading and you’ll be rewarded with an impressively long flowering display from spring until early autumn. The dazzling flowers attract a host of beneficial insects. Height: 50cm (20in). Spread: 45cm (18in).

Plant Geums in moist, fertile, well drained soil, adding plenty of compost or well rotted manure to amend heavy clay or sandy soils. Choose a position towards the front of the border in full sun.

Water regularly until fully established. Regular deadheading will encourage more flowers to be produced throughout the summer. In spring, lift and divide overcrowded clumps of geum to maintain their vigour.
